Megan got me this beautiful etching for Christmas. One text means "May we always be friends" and the other, "Wherever I go I am happy for I make it my home."
Buddha is sitting in the position of "Subduing Mara"- his right hand touching the ground to connect with the earth. Mara, the Evil One, repeatedly tried to distract Siddartha from his meditations by tempting him with many pleasures, but Siddartha would touch the earth to put these things out of his mind.
